PRABE-WK. 4

This week Marley gets into some trouble.  He becomes destructive and John and Jenny have had it.  What to do? That becomes the question.  They would really love to keep his "bloodline" going, but after much deliberation they decide to have him neutered.  They hope and pray this will calm him and easy some of his "rowdiness".
John and Jenny are feeling overwhelmed by work, work has consumed them so much that John plans a surprise trip to Ireland.  But who would watch Marley while they were away?  It came down to John's friend, and co-worker.  I wondered if she knew what she was getting herself into. :)  John and Jenny are trying pregnancy again, hoping this time would turn out differently than before.  Jenny's pregnancy begins progressing along, as does Marley's training.  Yay for both!! :)

PRABE-WK. 3

Oh this week did have me laughing and wanting to cry all at the same time!!!!
Marley brakes out of his shell and becomes this mischievous dog, but John and Jenny wouldn't have it any other way.  John and Jenny take a trip to the doctor for their 1st sonogram.  The results they received were not what they were expecting.  Sadly, Jenny had had a miscarriage.  With the grim news, they travel home.  It was a long, silent car ride. (And here is the part where I wanted to cry.)  When they got home Jenny was still pretty silent, and in the midst of it, there was Marley.  He was consoling her, it was as if he knew what had happened.  Perhaps he did.  I think it is amazing how pets and animals can actually sense when something is wrong.  It made me happy to read that the three of them could share their grief.  I also find out that Marly is getting signed up for obedience classes.

PRABE-WK. 2

I am left laughing this week while reading my book. John and Jenny finally get to bring Marley home! While reading, the book discusses how John falls into a routine with Marley and how they truly can't remember what life was like before him.  (I laugh, because while I am reading all of this, I can't help but think of my own life and experiences with my daughter.)  Oh what was life like before my daughter? I always chuckle and say it must have been rather boring! :) It is amazing how having a new puppy is quite like having a newborn, there's the sleepless nights and the new, unexplainable life of twists and turns.  Yet, you always manage to figure things out!
I also found out that John and Jenny are expecting their own little bundle of joy.  They are ecstatic, and in the midst of all the commotion and excitement, there's Marley celebrating with them!

PRABE-Wk. 1

Book-Marly & Me by John Grogan

I am hoping that by seeing the movie first I have not ruined it for myself! Every time there is a book followed by a movie, I always hear the book is WAY better than the movie.  :)  I did enjoy the movie, but it has been awhile since I viewed it.

As I began my reading, many things came back to me.  Here we see a new couple(John and Jenny), in love, early in their marriage.  Both of their careers are in newspaper.  The idea of children has been thought of, but just tossed around.  John had bought a plant, which Jenny killed.  So to try out the "nurturing" aspect of life, they decide to get a dog.  Both John and Jenny grew up with family pets, so caring for a dog shouldn't be that hard...right?  They go to a breeder and decide on "the one"(the clearance dog), but they can't bring him home just yet.  On the car ride home they begin fighting over the name and eventually, after much deliberation they decide on Marley- a male labrador retriever.

*I have a strong feeling this book will have me laughing and crying just as the movie did*
